After weeks of trying out editors and even starting to edit scenes myself, I discovered the outrageous talent of my assistant editor. All these weeks she was right there and I didn’t really see the talent of hers. She definitely is a talented, patient, ambitious editor of high quality. When I asked her to edit my movie she couldn’t believe it and was super-happy. When I told her that I was unhappy with what had already been edited and I wanted to start from the beginning with Scene1, she almost fainted. – Well, only 190 more scenes to edit. J

I decided to start editing the Making Of and one of the musicvideos, so that at least something will be finished before 2020… It’s not that long that we finished shooting but it so crazy watching the material now. I even can’t remember a couple of things anymore, I guess the reason for that is the lack of sleep back then. Anyway we got more than 20 hours of Making Of and Casting so it will definitely take me some time, but it’s such a good feeling working on it.

As mentioned before, I met several editing students. One of them’s called Matze and he’s constantly sending me mails that he desperately wants to cut the movie. He hasn’t editing any longer movies yet. I’m not sure… He’d be fanatic enough, though…

Somebody posted in a user forum. We’ll try that:

Import P2 > Media

I don’t know, why that didn’t work, ‘cause I think that’s the right way to do it. I think it’s because Reiter has scanned something again…

Claudia has decided to do everything again. For the third time!!! That girl’s unbelievable! Still, Constanze and me have decided to help her and that each of us is doing one third of the work. My conscience wouldn’t allow anything else.

Concerning the cutter task: I have met up with several students who would be interested in editing the film. It would be a new experience for each of them, because none of them has edited a film of that length so far. I wish Claudia would have more experience in editing, ‘cause she’s got a grit and passion.

Let me explain it. All the work Claudia has done during the last weeks would lead to the point where we could start editing. But, all that work was deleted today in the morning with one single keypress. (I will not mention the responsible person. It was definitely not Claudia).

I don’t know what to say, especially to Claudia. She is, by the way, hiding in the toilet and doesn’t want to come out anymore. I wouldn’t be surprised, if she gave up now. To do all that stuff again would be absurd. I also don’t know what to do from here.

Reiter has deleted the complete quarantine folder and therefore also all the video files!

Reiter’s posting our problem in an Avid user forum.

I’m shocked.

1) I’m trying to get the material into the editing computer again. As nobody has a clue anyway, I’ll just proceed with what I’ve been doing so far. (“maybe it was wrong to be so hectic!”)

2) I notice that the hard disc is full, although I’ve just deleted some unnecessary clips.

3) Reiter and me are trying to find out which files are off-line (the Avid synonyms don’t allow any connections by name!)

4) We’re checking the folder MS_SOFT…

5) We’re scanning the folder and get error messages like “An access violation ecxeption occurred…”

6) We’re sending the defective files to the quarantine folder and hope for tomorrow to be a better day.

Reiter has successfully synced, me too.

Reiter’s bringing that AVID support guy. Barbara and me are bored and pissed, ‘cause that guy doesn’t have a clue and also doesn’t admit it. (Reiter didn’t know how to sync and asked him)… I’m especially getting more and more pissed, ‘cause I think I know now, how it would work. (You have to read the AVID manual!)
